Le groupe est créé initialement par le trompettiste et chanteur Frank Assunto (29/01/1922 - 25/02/1974) et son frère Fred (03/12/1929 - 21/04/1966), tromboniste. |
||||
|
1950 - 1955 |
En 1050, ils sont engagés pour une longue période au Famous Door, à New Orleans. La forùation fait ses premiers enregistrements en 1951. Le groupe s'étoffe ensuite avec la venue de Pete Fountain. |
||||
|
1955 - 1960 |
Le père, Papa Jac Assunto, rejoint le groupe, au banjo et au trombone. La formation enregistre notamment avec Louis Armstrong. |
||||
|
1961 - 1964 |
Avec la venue du clarinettiste et un nouveau contrat chez Columbia, le groupe est à son sommet. |
||||
|
1965 - 1966 |
Après leur départ de Comluùbia, le groupe va commencer à baisser en qualité, jusqu'au décès de Fred Assunto (cancer), en 1966. |
||||
|
1966 - 1974 |
Frank continue l'aventure, jusqu'en 1974, date de son décès (cancer, également). |
||||
|
Fin des années 1970 |
Une nouvelle formation, qui n'a en fait rien avoir avec la formation initiale, est constituée, à laquelle participeront, entre autre, Tim Laughlin et Tom McDermott. |
